Female Academy

The Female Academy, a Cherry Valley institution.

- Built in 1795 as an all-male school, the first built west of the Hudson River.
- After 1850, it became the Cherry Valley Female Academy, with students from as far away as Florida, Louisiana and California.
- Discontinued in 1875 and converted into the Grand Hotel.
- In 1896 it was destroyed by fire.
